Islamabad, May 19 (V7N) — Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has issued a strong warning to India, saying that any future “misadventure” could have severe consequences for the country’s existence and regional standing.

He made the remarks during an interview on the Geo News programme Capital Talk, according to a report by Dawn on Monday (May 18).

Asif said that India “feels its national honour has been damaged,” but added that Pakistan remains fully prepared for any potential military confrontation.

He further claimed that the Pakistani armed forces had delivered a “strong response” during a recent military confrontation linked to tensions following the Pahalgam attack in April last year.

Responding to comments made by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Asif accused him of attempting to restore “lost honour” through aggressive rhetoric.

The minister warned that continued escalation in rhetoric could push the region into deeper instability, adding that decisions taken in such circumstances could determine whether a country remains “part of geography or history.”

He also claimed Pakistan currently holds a strong regional position and suggested that geopolitical alignments involving India and Israel may be aimed at counterbalancing influence in the region.

India has not officially responded to the latest remarks at the time of reporting.
