Bratislava, Jun 30 (V7N) — Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár has warned that Lebanon must not be allowed to become "another Gaza" amid rising tensions in the Middle East. He also called on Israel to respect the agreement reached between the United States and Iran.

Blanár made the remarks at a joint press conference with Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares in Bratislava on Monday (June 29), according to Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera, citing the Slovak news agency TASR.

"We do not want Lebanon to become another Gaza. Therefore, Israel must also abide by the agreements reached between the United States and Iran," Blanár said.

He stressed that the ongoing crises in the Middle East—particularly those involving the Gaza Strip and Iran—cannot be resolved through military action alone, but require sustained diplomatic engagement.

The Slovak foreign minister said Slovakia and Spain share largely similar positions on addressing international conflicts, emphasizing dialogue, diplomacy and solutions based on international law.

He added that keeping diplomatic channels open and ensuring all parties respect international agreements are essential to preventing further escalation.

Blanár's remarks come as tensions persist along the Lebanon-Israel border alongside the continuing conflict in Gaza. At the same time, diplomatic efforts remain underway to implement a possible agreement between the United States and Iran. Against this backdrop, several European countries have renewed calls for a peaceful resolution, warning of the risk of a broader regional conflict.
