In a significant escalation of tensions, Iran has launched a direct missile attack on Israeli territory. The attack, dubbed "Operation True Promise," comes in retaliation for the recent attack on Tehran's consulate in Syria, according to Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

Late on Saturday, warning sirens sounded across various parts of Israel, including the capital Tel Aviv, as the Iranian missiles and drones targeted Israeli military installations. The IRGC confirmed the attack, stating that more than two hundred drones, as well as cruise and ballistic missiles, were deployed in the operation.

Israel's Defense Department, the IDF, reported minor damage to a military base, with one civilian, a teenage girl, injured by shell debris. Israeli air defense systems intercepted several drones, preventing further damage.

The attack prompted Israel to instruct residents in areas including the Golan Heights, Nevatim, Dimona, and Eilat to seek shelter in bomb shelters. Despite the assault, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that his country was prepared for such an attack and stressed the support of various nations, including the United States.

The recent attack follows tensions sparked by Israel's assault on the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1, which resulted in casualties among IRGC officers and Syrian citizens. Iran had previously warned of retaliation in response to this attack, marking a concerning escalation in the conflict between the two nations.
