Iran's recent drone and missile attack on Israeli territory, purportedly in response to an Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria, has been met with robust defense measures by Israel, with the United States cautioning against retaliatory strikes.

According to Israel's Defense Force (IDF), 99 percent of the drones and missiles launched by Iran were intercepted before reaching Israeli territory. The IDF released images showcasing the damage caused by the attack, revealing holes in a road and a vacant lot near an airbase.

The BBC, citing the IDF, published these images on Monday, shedding light on the aftermath of the Iranian assault. This marks the first direct attack by Tehran on Israeli territory amid escalating tensions in the region.

In response to Iran's aggression, Israel convened a cabinet meeting to deliberate on potential countermeasures. However, no decision was reached during the meeting.

Meanwhile, the United States, a staunch ally of Israel, issued a warning to Israel, indicating that it would not partake in any retaliatory strikes against Iran. US President Joe Biden reportedly urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to exercise caution and strategic deliberation in the face of escalating tensions.

Amidst these developments, Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Said Iravani, addressed the UN Security Council, criticizing its perceived failure to uphold international peace and security. Iravani emphasized Iran's reluctance for conflict while asserting its readiness to respond strongly to any further aggression.
