Mangaf,  (12 June 2024) – At least 39 people have perished in a devastating fire that erupted in a residential building in southern Kuwait. The incident, which occurred in the southern city of Mangaf on Wednesday, has also left many more injured, some critically.

Initially, the Ministry of Home Affairs reported over 30 deaths, but the toll has since risen to 39. The blaze broke out in the Mangaf area of South Ahmadi Governorate, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

Several injured individuals have been transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment. The Ministry of Health confirmed that medical teams are working diligently to provide the necessary care to those affected by the fire.

Kuwaiti police official Id Rashid Hamas reported that 15 additional injured individuals were taken to hospitals, along with the bodies of four deceased victims.

While authorities have yet to provide a detailed account of the casualties, another Kuwaiti official indicated that the fire involved two separate buildings. One building's blaze resulted in the deaths of four individuals, while the other accounted for over 30 fatalities.

Kuwait's state-run news agency Kuna reported that at least 43 people were injured and transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and officials are working to determine the full extent of the damage and the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
