Gaza City, August 1 — Two journalists from Al Jazeera, Ismail Al Ghoul and Rami Al-Rifi, lost their lives in an Israeli attack on Gaza. The incident occurred as they were on their way to report on the aftermath of the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniya.

The journalists were en route to Haniya's home in the west of Gaza City on July 31 when their car was struck near the Shati refugee camp. According to Al Jazeera, Ismail, a reporter, and Rami, his cameraman, were in contact with the newsroom just 15 minutes before the fatal attack.

Al Jazeera, a Qatar-based media organization, condemned the attack, stating that it amounted to a targeted killing. They emphasized that the vehicle was clearly marked with media stickers and that both journalists were wearing jackets identifying them as members of the media.

This tragic incident brings the total number of journalists killed since the beginning of the recent Israeli aggression in Gaza to 165, with four from Al Jazeera alone. The media network's statement expressed deep sorrow and called for accountability for the deaths of journalists covering the conflict.
