Riyadh, Sep 09 (V7N) — As discussions about a potential four-day work week circulate in Japan, Saudi Arabia has already taken steps towards this progressive work model. Lusidia, a Riyadh-based AI customer experience management platform, has become the first company in the kingdom to introduce a three-day weekend for its employees.

In a move aimed at increasing productivity, Lusidia announced that its employees would now work four days a week, enjoying three days off. The decision has sparked widespread conversation on social media, with many observers eager to see how this will affect employee performance and productivity.

The initiative by Lusidia is expected to set a new precedent in Saudi Arabia, and there is speculation that other companies may follow suit. Dr. Khalil Al-Thyabi, a prominent Saudi human resources expert, has also called for Saudi Arabia to align its weekend schedule with G20 countries, which typically observe Saturdays and Sundays as non-working days. He argued that adopting similar practices could positively impact the Saudi economy.

The concept of a shortened work week has gained momentum internationally, with Japan also considering implementing a four-day work week. In 2020, Japan’s SMBC Nikko Securities Inc. became one of the first companies in the country to introduce a three-day weekend for its employees, reflecting a growing trend towards flexible work schedules globally.

Lusidia’s decision is being watched closely, with many hoping that it will lead to a more widespread adoption of the three-day weekend across Saudi Arabia and beyond.
