Mathura, Sep 19 (V7N) – A freight train accident in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, derailed 20 wagons on Wednesday night, disrupting rail services on the Agra-Delhi route. The accident occurred around 11 pm near Vrindavan Road, affecting the movement of trains and causing significant delays.
According to The Times of India, the freight train was travelling from Jhansi to Sundargarh when it derailed, spilling coal across the tracks. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the derailment damaged several pillars and halted train services on the up-down tracks.
At least 15 passenger trains bound for Agra, Delhi, and Gwalior were delayed, leaving passengers stranded and facing severe inconvenience. Railway officials quickly arrived at the scene and began repair work overnight to restore services.
The accident has once again raised concerns about safety within the Indian Railways, as incidents continue to disrupt the network. Line repairs are ongoing to clear the tracks and normalise train operations.
