Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has granted bail to former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan in 12 cases. Besides, the country's former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has also been granted bail in 13 cases.

Imran Khan's bail cases include cases related to riots, attack on Pakistan Army General Headquarters (GHQ) and military museum. And all the cases in which Shah Mahmood Qureshi got bail were related to riots.

Imran Khan was arrested while appearing in the Islamabad High Court on May 9 last year. After that, the activists of his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf erupted in protest. At this time, for the first time in the history of the country, the cantonment and various installations of the military forces were attacked.

Meanwhile, the country's National Assembly elections were held on Thursday (February 8) in 265 constituencies. According to the country's media outlet Dawn, the private results of 253 constituencies have been declared so far. Leaders of Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won 92 seats as independents. Nawaz Sharif's PML-N won 71. Pakistan People's Party (PPP), which came third, won 54 seats. Other political parties and independent candidates won in 36 seats.

It should be noted that on January 30, a special court in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to 10 years imprisonment in the Cipher case. In addition, on February 3, an Islamabad court sentenced Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to seven years in prison for marrying in violation of Sharia law.
