New York, Sep 25 (V7N) – The cartoon book "Satire and Ridicule," capturing the fall of Sheikh Hasina and the July Revolution in Bangladesh, was launched at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Tuesday evening by Professor Dr Yunus, the chief adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government.
Edited by Shahidul Alam, the book was published jointly by Drik Picture Library, earki, and the Bangladesh Cartoonist Association (BANCARAS). The publication is an outcome of the exhibition “Cartoon e Bidroho,” held at Drik in August.
The book highlights the significant role cartoonists played during the July uprising, where they used satire and caricature through social media to protest against oppression and foster unity among the masses. It documents the pivotal contributions of these cartoonists in shaping recent Bangladeshi history.
At the ceremony, Nobel laureate Dr Yunus praised the efforts of the entire team behind “Satire and Ridicule.”
