Cox's Bazar, July 11 (V7N)- According to the latest data from the Bureau of Statistics, the population of Cox's Bazar district is 2,823,268. Among them, there are 1,434,622 men, 1,388,563 women, and 83 hijras. In 2011, the population was 2,289,268. Over the last 10 years, the population of the district has increased by 534,000. Additionally, the number of unmarried men in the district is higher compared to unmarried women.
 
The Deputy Director of the District Statistics Bureau, Sarwar Kamal Tarzan, stated that the percentage of married men in the district is 54.84%, while for women, it is 61.70%. This indicates that the percentage of married women is higher than that of married men. The highest number of married individuals is in Pekua, and the lowest is in Teknaf. The number of unmarried men in the district is 14.24% higher than unmarried women.
 
On the other hand, the number of divorced women in Cox's Bazar has increased alongside the rise in married women. Currently, the divorce rate among women in Cox's Bazar is 0.57%, whereas for men, it is 0.09%. Compared to men, women are more likely to experience divorce and separation.
 
Additionally, the widow rate among women in the district is 7.2%, while for men, it is 0.65%. This means that the number of widowed women is higher than that of widowed men. The rate of women separated from their spouses is 0.71%, while for men, it is 0.18%. Here, too, women lead.
 
Furthermore, among the upazilas (sub-districts), Kutubdia has the highest number of children and women, while Cox's Bazar Sadar has the lowest number of children and women.
 
According to the latest census data from 2022, Chakaria has the highest population among the upazilas in the district, while Kutubdia has the lowest population.
