Oct 21, V7N- The United States, the top seed, will face neighboring Canada in the group stage of the United Cup mixed team tournament, where Coco Gauff will make her debut. The tournament will take place in Sydney and Perth at the start of next season. Gauff, currently ranked world number three, will be joined on the U.S. team by Taylor Fritz, Denis Kudla, Robert Galloway, Desirae Krawczyk, and Danielle Collins, who recently reversed her decision to retire after the 2024 season.

During the draw on Monday, the Americans were also placed in Group A alongside Canada and an undecided nation, with matches set to be held in Perth. The final two teams in the tournament will be determined based on rankings from November 19. Notably, Serbia's Novak Djokovic has opted out of the tournament, choosing not to include it in his preparations for pursuing an 11th Australian Open title.

Reigning champions Germany, led by world number three Alexander Zverev, will compete in Group E against China, featuring Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen, and Brazil. Zverev is expected to be the highest-ranked male player in the tournament, as top stars Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will be absent, while Daniil Medvedev's Russian team remains barred from participation due to sanctions related to the invasion of Ukraine. Aryna Sabalenka will also miss out due to similar sanctions. However, a strong Polish team, headlined by five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek and including Hubert Hurkacz, will compete in Group B against the Czech Republic and Norway. Tournament director Stephen Farrow expressed excitement over the strong entry list, highlighting the presence of numerous top-ranked players.

Hosts Australia, led by Alex de Minaur, will play their Group F matches in Sydney against Britain and another undecided nation. The tournament kicks off on December 27, with the final scheduled for January 5.
