Kathmandu, Oct 24 (V7N)— Bangladesh secured their spot in the semi-finals of the SAFF Women's Championship with an impressive 3-1 victory over India in their second Group 'A' match. With this win, Bangladesh topped the group with four points from two matches, while India finished as the runner-up with three points. Pakistan, who earned only one point, was eliminated from the tournament.

Although a draw would have been enough for Bangladesh to advance, they came into the match with a clear attacking mindset. From the outset, Bangladesh launched multiple offensives against the Indian defense, and it didn't take long for them to capitalize.

In the 18th minute, captain Sabina Khatun delivered a corner that the Indian goalkeeper failed to clear. Afeeda Khandaker seized the opportunity and calmly slotted the ball into the net, giving Bangladesh an early lead.

Bangladesh's pressure continued, and in the 25th minute, Rituparna Chakma's cross created another close opportunity. Just minutes later, Tahura Khatun extended Bangladesh’s lead with a well-placed shot, leaving the Indian goalkeeper unable to save it.

Before halftime, Tahura struck again with her second goal, making it 3-0 for Bangladesh. India fought back and managed to score in the 42nd minute when captain Bala Devi headed in a corner, narrowing the gap to 3-1 before the break.

India, who had earlier thrashed Pakistan 5-0, tried to regain control in the second half but were repeatedly denied by Bangladesh's goalkeeper Rupana Chakma, who displayed exceptional skill. Despite India's persistent attacks, they were unable to add to their score.

With this victory, Bangladesh confidently advanced to the semi-finals as group champions, demonstrating their strength and determination throughout the match.
