Dhaka, Nov 02 (V7N)- At a reception hosted at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday morning, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus requested that the Bangladesh women’s football team, recent champions of the 2024 SAFF Women's Championship in Nepal, provide a written list of their needs and concerns. He assured the players that he would address these matters in the days ahead.

The Bangladesh team, who successfully retained their SAFF title with a 2-1 victory over Nepal at Kathmandu's Dasarath Rangasala Stadium, were honored at the ceremony attended by all 23 players, team manager Mahmuda Ananya, and head coach Peter Butler. They arrived at the guest house around 10:30 am, where Professor Yunus and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud shared breakfast with the team.

Following the ceremony, Asif Mahmud told reporters that Professor Yunus listened closely to the challenges faced by the players, particularly concerning financial and training issues. “He encouraged the players to submit a written outline of their demands so that he can work towards resolving them,” Mahmud stated, adding that the ministry would also review the requests once submitted.

As a gesture of gratitude, the players presented Professor Yunus with signed jerseys and footballs.

Addressing reporters, Asif also highlighted the issue of unpaid salaries owed to the players, noting that the team is currently owed two months' wages. He assured that discussions would be held with the newly elected Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) members to address the matter. “The previous BFF administration under Kazi Salahuddin has been replaced by a new committee led by Tabith Awal. We aim to ensure that future financial issues are prevented,” Mahmud remarked.
