Nov 07, V7N- The Dallas Cowboys face a significant setback as quarterback Dak Prescott’s hamstring injury appears more severe than initially thought. Reports indicate Prescott has a partial avulsion of the hamstring tendon, where the tendon partially tore from the bone. While he hasn't yet been placed on injured reserve, the new diagnosis suggests he could be sidelined for more than a month. Prescott sustained the injury in the third quarter of the Cowboys' 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

In Prescott's absence, backup quarterback Cooper Rush will take over as the starter, with Trey Lance serving as his backup. Rush has shown reliability in previous relief stints, posting a 5-1 record when filling in for Prescott over the past two seasons. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy expressed confidence in Rush, highlighting his calm demeanor and intelligence. "His temperament is excellent. I would say he's as even-keeled as an individual, especially a quarterback, that I’ve had the opportunity to work with," McCarthy told reporters.

The Cowboys, now on a three-game losing streak and standing at 3-5, will have a tough test this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles (6-2). The loss of Prescott, who boasts a lucrative contract running through 2030 with $230 million guaranteed, adds further challenges to a season already marked by inconsistency.

Prescott, 31, has had a solid career with a 66.8 percent completion rate, 31,437 passing yards, 213 touchdowns, and 82 interceptions. This season, he has completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Despite his regular-season success, his postseason record stands at 2-5, and he has yet to lead the Cowboys to a conference final.

With Rush at the helm, the Cowboys will aim to stabilize their season, hoping to remain competitive in Prescott's absence.
