Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton is confirmed to remain with Mercedes for the remainder of the season, despite ongoing rumors about his impending move to Ferrari next year. Speculation had intensified after Hamilton's disappointing weekend at the Brazilian Grand Prix, where he finished 11th in the sprint and 10th in the main event. Frustrated with the car’s performance, Hamilton described it as "the worst the car has ever been," sparking rumors of a possible early exit.
Following the race, Hamilton made comments that some interpreted as a farewell, including saying he “could happily go and take a holiday” instead of competing in the season’s final races. However, multiple sources have reported that Mercedes has confirmed Hamilton will be driving in the season's last three events in Las Vegas, Lusail, and Abu Dhabi.
At 39, Hamilton currently sits seventh in the 2023 driver standings, with Mercedes ranked fourth in the constructor standings. He has managed two wins this season, at the British and Belgian Grands Prix, bringing his career total to 105 victories. Although Hamilton is widely anticipated to join Ferrari for the next season, he remains focused on closing out this year with Mercedes, where he has clinched six of his seven championships between 2014 and 2020.
