Sharjah, Nov 07 (V7N)— Bangladesh’s cricket team suffered a double setback after their 92-run loss to Afghanistan in the first ODI of a three-match series in Sharjah. Star wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim sustained a finger injury while keeping, sidelining him from the upcoming second ODI on Saturday.

Mushfiqur, who batted at number 7 and scored only 1 run, had come onto the field later than usual, which initially raised questions. It was later revealed that his finger injury occurred toward the end of Afghanistan's innings, limiting his ability to bat higher in the order.

While a medical examination has been conducted, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has yet to receive the full report on the injury’s severity. Initial assessments indicate that he will not be fit to play in Saturday’s game, with concerns that he may also miss the series finale.

The second ODI is set to take place at the same venue, where Bangladesh will look to recover and potentially level the series despite the absence of their experienced wicketkeeper.
