Nov 20 (V7N) – Angel Di Maria, affectionately known by fans as "The Final Man", is embarking on a new chapter in his football journey. The Argentine star, celebrated for his decisive contributions in Argentina's victories in the World Cup, Copa America, and Finalissima, has announced his intention to transition into coaching.
In an interview with Clank Media on November 18, Di Maria shared his aspirations and preparations for this career shift.
"I am taking a course to become a coach. If the opportunity comes, I will do it," Di Maria said. He revealed that his perspective on football started to evolve at the age of 30, when he began analyzing the game not only as a player but also from a coach's point of view.
"Coaching is much more difficult. It requires significant time and effort. As a player, you just practice and then go home. But as a coach, the responsibilities multiply," he added.
Though Di Maria retired from international football earlier this year, he remains active in club football, currently playing for Portuguese powerhouse Benfica. On August 6, he received an emotional farewell in Buenos Aires, where fans and teammates honored his legacy ahead of a World Cup qualifier against Chile.
Di Maria's nickname stems from his knack for shining in crucial matches. Whether scoring the winner in the 2021 Copa America final against Brazil, contributing to Argentina's 2022 World Cup victory in Qatar, or excelling in the Finalissima against Italy, he has consistently delivered under pressure.
As Di Maria begins his coaching journey, fans worldwide will be eager to see how "The Final Man" channels his on-field brilliance into success from the sidelines.
