Nov 30, (V7N) - In a thrilling upset at the Cayman Islands Classic, No. 17 TCU defeated No. 3 Notre Dame 76-68, with Sedona Prince delivering a dominant 20-point, 20-rebound double-double. The senior center also set career highs with eight blocked shots and played all 40 minutes. TCU, which was trailing 56-45 going into the fourth quarter, outscored Notre Dame 31-12 in the final frame. Hailey Van Lith contributed 21 points and seven assists for TCU, which improved to 7-0.
Notre Dame, despite a stellar performance by Hannah Hidalgo (27 points, nine rebounds), struggled with their shooting, making only 25 of 72 attempts from the field. Olivia Miles and Sonia Citron added 16 and 14 points, respectively, but the Fighting Irish couldn't hold onto their lead.
Elsewhere, No. 1 UCLA demolished UT-Martin 97-37, with Lauren Betts leading the Bruins with 18 points and 13 rebounds. UCLA shot nearly 53% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc, while UT-Martin struggled, making just 12 of 50 field-goal attempts.
No. 11 Ohio State cruised to an 87-51 win over Utah State in the Daytona Beach Classic. Ajae Petty and Chance Gray each scored 17 points, and the Buckeyes forced 36 turnovers to win easily. Mia Tarver scored 12 points for Utah State.
No. 12 West Virginia dominated High Point 89-54, with JJ Quinerly scoring a game-high 22 points and Jordan Thomas adding 18 points and 10 rebounds. West Virginia shot 53.2% from the field and held a commanding 46-22 rebounding edge.
No. 16 North Carolina crushed North Carolina Central 119-43, led by Alyssa Ustby’s 24 points and 10 rebounds. The Tar Heels hit nearly 57% of their shots and made 11 three-pointers, while North Carolina Central struggled with a 28.3% shooting effort.
