Nov 30, (V7N) - Brighton & Hove Albion moved up to second in the Premier League with a 1-1 draw against bottom-side Southampton on Friday, but coach Fabian Hurzeler expressed disappointment with his team's performance. Kaoru Mitoma's first-half goal was cancelled out by Flynn Downes' second-half equaliser, and a controversial offside decision saw Cameron Archer's potential winner ruled out, adding to Brighton's frustration.

Despite their high league position, Hurzeler stressed the importance of improving their consistency and ruthlessness. "We have to be more consistent over the 90 minutes," he said. "In the first half, we had enough chances to win the game but didn't take them. Then, we weren’t clear enough or consistent enough in defense, which led to the goal."

After a strong start to the season with impressive wins over teams like Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester City, Hurzeler acknowledged that this performance did not reflect the style of play he expects from his team. "It’s early in the season, and we shouldn’t focus solely on results, but performances. Today was not our best, and we have to be honest with ourselves that this can’t be our identity," he said. He also apologized to the home fans for the second-half performance, emphasizing the need for improvement moving forward.
