Khulna, Oct 5 (V7N) — The Khulna Division Taekwondo Open Championship 2025 was held at the Jessore District Gymnasium, organized by the Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation with support from the Khulna Divisional Sports Association and Jessore District Sports Association. The competition featured 130 athletes (85 male, 45 female) representing eight district sports associations.

Jessore District Sports Association secured the championship with 24 gold, 19 silver, and 13 bronze medals. Kushtia District finished as first runner-up with 14 gold, 8 silver, and 7 bronze medals, while Narail District placed second runner-up with 4 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze medals.

Major General Md. Habib Ullah, President of the Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation, highlighted the sport’s role in fostering discipline, confidence, and responsibility among youth and emphasized that such divisional-level competitions would help produce world-class athletes. Senior Vice President Hasanuzzaman Khan Babul added that taekwondo guides young athletes in the right direction and supports their progress.

Tavibur Rahman, Founder and Chief Coach of Jessore Taekwondo Club, noted the growing interest in taekwondo among local youth but stressed that infrastructural gaps and lack of equipment remain challenges. SK Md. Waliur Rahman, President of Jessore Taekwondo Association, reflected on the expansion of taekwondo across remote areas of Bangladesh since 2017 and expressed hope that future Olympians would emerge from such initiatives.

Jessore District Commissioner Md. Azaharul Islam assured full administrative support for the development of taekwondo in the district, emphasizing the importance of sports in shaping youth.

Awards and certificates were presented to winners by the chief guests, and organizers expressed hope that these athletes would elevate the nation’s standing in future national and international competitions.
