Mirpur, Nov 20 (V7N)- After Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das has also reached three figures in the ongoing Mirpur Test. Liton brought up his fifth Test century during the first innings of the second Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday (November 20).
The day began with all eyes on Mushfiqur Rahim, who resumed on 99 and completed his century off the third ball of the morning, bowled by pacer Jordan Neil. The milestone carries extra significance as it came in Mushfiqur’s 100th Test match.
From the other end, Liton quietly but effectively played a superb innings of his own. His century also came in a special match—his 100th first-class appearance. Liton last scored a Test century against Pakistan in Rawalpindi in August last year.
At lunch on Day 2, Bangladesh stood at 387 for 5 in 120 overs. Liton remained unbeaten, accompanied by Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who is batting on 30 off 78 balls.
Earlier, Bangladesh ended Day 1 strongly at 292 for 4, thanks to a solid start from openers Shadman Islam (35) and Mahmudul Hasan Joy (34), who put together a 52-run partnership.
