Dhaka, Jan 21 (V7N) — Bangladesh’s participation in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 remains uncertain, as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly warned the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) that refusal to play in India could lead to the country’s exclusion from the tournament, according to cricket portal Cricinfo.

Sources say a vote was held in the ICC board regarding the issue, and a majority supported including an alternative team if Bangladesh withdraws. The ICC has given the BCB one additional day to convey its final decision, emphasizing that the issue should be discussed thoroughly with the Bangladesh government before a response is sent.

If Bangladesh fails to provide a positive response within the stipulated timeframe, the ICC may proceed with excluding the team. Discussions are already underway about which country could replace Bangladesh in the tournament, with Scotland being considered for inclusion in Group C.

The situation adds further uncertainty to Bangladesh cricket’s schedule, with the final decision expected imminently.
