China's Li Wenwen continued her dominance in the women's heavyweight weightlifting competition at the Paris Olympics, securing her nation's fifth gold in the event. Competing in the category for women weighing over 81 kilograms, the 150kg Li, who also claimed gold in the Tokyo Games, showcased her strength and skill by leading the competition so decisively that she passed on her final attempts in both the snatch and clean and jerk categories.

With her victory assured, Li celebrated in a unique and joyful way by hoisting her coach into the air instead of the barbell. She finished the competition with a total lift of 309kg, which placed her 10kg ahead of South Korea's Park Hye-jeong, who took the silver medal. Tokyo silver medallist Emily Campbell of Great Britain finished 11kg behind Park, securing the bronze. Li's performance further cemented her status as one of the top weightlifters in the world.
