The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has introduced a hotline to facilitate the reporting of monkeypox (mpox) cases. Individuals displaying symptoms of mpox are urged to contact 16263 or 10655 immediately, as per a press release issued on Saturday.
The release explains that monkeypox is a contagious disease caused by the monkeypox virus, leading to painful rashes, swollen lymph nodes, and fever. The virus has spread to numerous countries, including those in Central Africa, and there has been a recent surge in cases. The press release urges people who develop symptoms, have been in contact with an infected individual, or exhibit symptoms within 21 days of traveling to an infected area, to reach out through the provided hotlines.
