Chilmari, Sep 12 (V7N) - Young people are now at the forefront of blood donation efforts. Even in remote areas, they are the first to respond when blood is needed. Previously, there was a lack of interest in donating blood, but today’s youth come forward selflessly. Those who donate blood often motivate others to join in, increasing overall enthusiasm for this cause.

Operating under the motto "Regardless of nationality, religion, or ethnicity—let’s donate blood cheerfully," the voluntary blood donation group "Suhid" in Chilmari, Kurigram has been providing blood selflessly for four years. The organization is now entering its fifth year.

The fourth anniversary of the organization was celebrated on Wednesday afternoon in a classroom at Chilmari Government College.

The event featured speeches from Suhid’s advisor Rabbiul Islam, former president Arif Raihan, co-founders Rukunuzzaman Ranu and Mehdi Hasan Shanto, and others.

The organization aims to promote youth participation in blood donation and to eliminate common misconceptions through various means such as seminars, camping, leaflet distribution, and blood group testing.

Founded in 2020 by 26 local youths, the "Voluntary Blood Donors Organization" (Suhid) has since been active in social initiatives and awareness campaigns. Their blood donation drives have extended to requests from upazila, district, and even divisional levels. To date, Suhid has donated a total of 690 bags of blood. Although the number of donors was initially small, it has now grown to over one hundred members.
