Beirut, Sep 28 (V7N): The Israeli military announced on Saturday that it had killed Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in an airstrike on the group's central headquarters located in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Friday.

Hezbollah, an Iran-backed group, has not yet issued any statement regarding Nasrallah's status, who has led the organisation for the past 32 years.

Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee posted on X, stating, "The Israeli army has eliminated ... Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organisation." The military also noted, "Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorise the world."

This strike was part of a renewed wave of Israeli airstrikes on Beirut's southern suburbs and other parts of Lebanon, following a major attack on Dahiyeh, Hezbollah’s stronghold, the day before.
