Beirut, Sep 30 (V7N) – Israeli airstrikes have intensified in Lebanon, with at least 105 people killed and over 350 injured in the past 24 hours, according to a report from Al Jazeera on Monday. The Lebanese health ministry confirmed that an attack in Ain al-Delbe, near southern Sidon, leveled two residential buildings, resulting in the deaths of 32 people, many of whom were displaced individuals taking refuge in the area.

Lebanese political leaders condemned the Israeli actions, describing them as 'genocide'. Despite Israeli claims that their strikes targeted Hezbollah positions, the impact on civilian areas has escalated tensions further. Israel stated that the airstrikes were aimed at Hezbollah targets, including the Ras Issa and Hodeidah seaports and various infrastructure sites. The strikes involved warplanes as well as other military aircraft.

What was once seen as a relatively safe haven in the Lebanese capital has now come under direct attack. Following the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, Israeli forces also killed senior Hezbollah official Sheikh Nabil Kawuk.

Hezbollah, which supports Hamas, initiated attacks on Israel in response to the October 2023 Gaza conflict. In turn, Israel launched a large-scale offensive against Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah strongholds on September 17 and 18.

The conflict continues to escalate, with civilian casualties mounting and widespread devastation across southern Lebanon.
