Beirut, Oct 04 (V7N) — For over two consecutive weeks, Israel has carried out airstrikes and ground attacks targeting Lebanese civilians and Hezbollah strongholds. On Friday morning, massive explosions occurred near Beirut airport following renewed Israeli airstrikes, with no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage.

According to the BBC, the motive behind the latest strike remains unclear, but it targeted the Dahiyeh area, a known Hezbollah stronghold in southern Beirut. Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health reported that 37 people were killed, and 151 were injured in Israeli strikes over the past 24 hours.

In southern Lebanon, the Lebanese army stated that Israel has ordered the evacuation of at least 20 towns and villages in preparation for further attacks. Two Lebanese soldiers were killed during the strikes.

Hezbollah claimed that it retaliated against Israeli forces along both sides of the border, while Israel confirmed the killing of Hezbollah fighters near the border without commenting on civilian casualties.

On Thursday, Hezbollah launched over 200 missiles at Israeli positions. Several sources reported injuries among Israeli forces, though Israeli media has not yet acknowledged this.

The conflict escalated following Israel’s ongoing military operations against Gaza that began last year, resulting in the deaths of over 41,000 Palestinians. Hezbollah joined the conflict in protest against the civilian deaths, and Israeli strikes have since claimed more than 800 lives in Lebanon.
