Nov 03, V7N- Tensions between Israel and Lebanon escalated significantly on Saturday as rockets launched from Lebanon injured 11 people in central Israel. One of the rockets struck a house in the town of Tira, causing panic among residents, although no fatalities were reported. Local resident Qasim Mohab described the chaotic scene, where neighbors and family members worked together to evacuate those inside.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for targeting a military base near Tel Aviv around the same time, and Israel reported that 11 people suffered injuries from shrapnel as the attacks continued. Air raid sirens sounded across northern Israel in response to ongoing rocket and drone fire from Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Israel's military announced that it had killed two Hezbollah commanders near Tyre on Friday, though Hezbollah has not issued a statement on the incident. The ongoing exchange of fire follows Hezbollah’s alignment with Hamas after the October 7 attacks by Hamas militants in Israel. This conflict has seen significant casualties, with over 43,000 Palestinian fatalities reported in Gaza by the Hamas-run health ministry, along with over 2,800 deaths in Lebanon, as reported by Lebanon’s health ministry. In Israel and Israeli-occupied territories, 71 people have been killed due to Hezbollah’s attacks.
The situation remains volatile as efforts toward a ceasefire face setbacks. The U.S. attempted to mediate for a truce earlier in the week, but those efforts have yet to bear results.
