NOV 24,(V7N) - The Executive Committee of the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) wrapped up its latest meeting in Singapore, reaffirming a commitment to enhance collaboration between Asia and Europe.
This year, Bangladesh holds the Chair of the ASEF Board of Governors, with Rais Hasan Sarower, Director-General for Regional Organizations at Bangladesh’s foreign ministry, leading Friday’s proceedings.
The executive body discussed ways to bolster ASEF’s impact on its member states. Key directives included:
Enhancing the organization’s visibility across member nations.
Exploring new funding mechanisms to sustain operations.
Strengthening data privacy protocols.
Strategic upgrades to make ASEF initiatives more aligned with the needs of member states.
Additionally, the committee approved Latvia’s Women's Peace and Security Training Project, marking a significant step toward gender-focused international cooperation.
Founded following the inaugural Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in 1997, ASEF serves as a platform to foster dialogue and collaboration between the two continents. Headquartered in Singapore, ASEF seeks innovative solutions to shared global challenges while complementing the broader ASEM process.
