NY, Dec 19 (V7N) – The United States has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the Rohingya refugee crisis while expressing concern over the ongoing situation in Myanmar, emphasizing its potential impact on regional stability and security.

During a regular media briefing in Washington on Tuesday, US Department of State spokesperson Matthew Miller remarked, "We are closely monitoring developments in Myanmar and remain concerned about the conflict's implications for regional stability and security."

Miller's comments came in response to a reporter's inquiry regarding the US's assessment of the situation, particularly with the Arakan Army gaining control of Myanmar's Rakhine state and its implications for Rohingya refugees.

He commended the generosity of the people and government of Bangladesh in hosting over 1.2 million Rohingya refugees who fled persecution in Myanmar, noting, "We will continue collaborating with Bangladesh to support Rohingya and other vulnerable communities from Burma who have sought refuge there."

Bangladesh currently shelters the Rohingya population in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasan Char, remaining at the forefront of international efforts to address this humanitarian crisis.
