Mexico City, Feb 10 (V7N) – Bangladesh's Ambassador to Mexico, Mushfiqul Fazal Ansari, announced an ambitious plan to boost Bangladesh's exports to Mexico to $1 billion. He made this statement during a discussion event titled 'Meet the Ambassador', organized by the Bangladesh Embassy in Mexico on Sunday (February 9) local time.
Ambassador Mushfiqul Fazal outlined strategies to expand the export of ready-made garments and pharmaceuticals, while also focusing on underperforming sectors such as leather products, IT services, and agricultural goods.
"Plans will be made to enhance exports across various sectors, aiming to reach the $1 billion target," he stated.
The Ambassador also highlighted the Bangladesh government's zero-tolerance policy on human trafficking and stressed the Embassy's role in creating job opportunities for skilled Bangladeshi workers in Mexico, particularly in the fields of IT, agriculture, and engineering.
The event, hosted by the Embassy's Head of Chancery Abdullah Al Farhad, saw the Ambassador emphasizing the critical role of remittances sent by expatriates in bolstering Bangladesh's economy. He pledged to transform the Embassy into a people-friendly mission during his tenure and encouraged expatriate Bangladeshis to abide by Mexican laws and integrate into the local culture.
Reflecting on recent national events, Ambassador Ansari paid tribute to the martyrs of the July Uprising, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to honoring their sacrifices. He called for unity in building a discrimination-free Bangladesh and stressed the importance of legal action against the remnants of fascist governance.
"During the rule of the previous fascist government, Bangladesh was known as a state of disappearances and murder. Now, it's time to leave that chapter behind and present Bangladesh as a well-ordered, civilized, and developed nation," he declared.
Expressing confidence in Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, who leads the interim government, the Ambassador said, "We are proud that Professor Yunus has taken charge. He will certainly strive to establish people's ownership by holding free and acceptable elections in accordance with the people's aspirations."
The event concluded with members of the Bangladeshi community in Mexico extending their congratulations and best wishes to Ambassador Mushfiqul Fazal Ansari on his new role.
