Damascus, Feb 13 (V7N)Syria’s interim government will transfer power to a new administration on March 1, marking the first transition since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad, according to Syrian Foreign Minister Asad al-Shaibani.

The minister made this announcement on Wednesday (February 12), emphasizing that the new government, formed through democratic means, will aim to represent all Syrian citizens. The report was published by France-24 on Thursday (February 13).

Rebuilding Syria After 50 Years of Assad Rule

Following over five decades of Assad family rule, the incoming administration faces major challenges in rebuilding state institutions and reviving an economy devastated by 14 years of war.

Despite international sanctions, the new government hopes to gain diplomatic recognition and restore economic ties with the West. Minister Shaibani acknowledged that securing support from Western capitals will be crucial in presenting Syria as a stable and successful nation on the global stage.
