DHAKA, July 29 (V7N) – Bangladesh’s Special Branch (SB) of police has issued a nationwide alert, warning that a banned faction of the Awami League may attempt to incite disorder through coordinated online and offline campaigns between July 29 and August 8.

According to intelligence sources, some leaders and activists affiliated with the outlawed political group are suspected of planning targeted attacks, acts of sabotage, or vandalism on both government and private institutions during this period. Authorities believe these actions could be part of a broader strategy to create political unrest.

In response, the Special Branch circulated an official warning to various units of the police force on Monday. The notice was sent to the Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), City Special Branch officials, Deputy Commissioners of metropolitan divisions, Special Superintendents of Police in Chattogram and Khulna, and all District Superintendents of Police across the country.

The alert urges heightened vigilance and preparedness to prevent any attempts to destabilize public order. Security agencies have been instructed to monitor both physical gatherings and digital platforms for any suspicious activity or incitement to violence.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that preemptive measures will be taken if credible threats are detected. Additional deployments and surveillance may be carried out in sensitive areas considered at risk.

Authorities have called on the public to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel while efforts are made to ensure law and order are maintained throughout the country.
