DHAKA, July 29 (V7N) – Bangladesh’s government is planning to reduce the cost of the Hajj pilgrimage for the upcoming year, with the Ministry of Religious Affairs expected to announce 2026 Hajj packages in early August. Officials say that under Saudi Arabia’s roadmap, the 2026 Hajj operations must be completed much earlier. This timeline poses significant challenges for Bangladesh, as early registration and fund transfers to Saudi authorities will be required. Rapid implementation of other preparatory activities is also necessary. Therefore, finalizing the Hajj package offerings has become a top priority for the government.

Ministry officials confirm that they are currently awaiting the finalized input on Saudi-side costs as well as domestic airfare rates for pilgrims. Under the government's managed arrangements, Package‑1 currently costs Tk 4,78,242 per pilgrim, while Package‑2 comes to Tk 5,75,680. In comparison, the minimum cost for privately organized Hajj packages has been set at Tk 4,83,156 by regulatory authorities. Based on these benchmarks, licensed Hajj agencies determine their package pricing.

Officials emphasize that aligning domestic registration processes and financial transfers with the Saudi guidelines on accelerated scheduling will require significant coordination. As international costs are confirmed, the ministry aims to set package rates early and complete necessary registrations in good time.

The overall goal is to ensure that pilgrims can perform Hajj at a lower cost while complying with the advanced Saudi schedule, making timely registration and transparency in pricing critical to the process.
