MANDALAY, Myanmar, April 2,(V7N) – A 26-year-old man was pulled alive from the rubble of a collapsed hotel in Naypyidaw on Wednesday, five days after a devastating earthquake struck Myanmar, killing more than 2,700 people and leaving thousands injured or missing.

Rescue teams, comprising Myanmar emergency responders and Turkish specialists, worked tirelessly to locate survivors amid the destruction. Around 12:30 AM (1800 GMT Tuesday), they successfully extracted the man from the ruins, marking a rare moment of hope in the ongoing disaster response.

Officials stated that the survivor was conscious but severely dehydrated and weak, having endured more than 100 hours under debris without food or water. He was immediately provided emergency medical treatment before being transferred to a nearby hospital for further care.

The deadly earthquake, one of the most powerful to hit Myanmar in recent history, has caused widespread devastation, particularly in Naypyidaw, Mandalay, and surrounding regions. Relief efforts have been hampered by damaged infrastructure, aftershocks, and communication breakdowns, but international assistance has been pouring in to support rescue and recovery operations.
