Kyiv, June 10 (V7N) — World heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk has made a heartfelt appeal to the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, urging him to stand by Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.
In an exclusive interview with CNN News, Usyk called on Trump to fulfill his campaign promise to end the war swiftly. “President Donald Trump, please open your eyes, help the people of my country,” said Usyk emotionally.
The WBC, WBA, and WBO heavyweight champion recalled Trump’s 2024 election pledge to stop the war in Ukraine within 24 hours, questioning why the former president has remained silent since taking office. “He said he would stop the war in a month or a day. Now he is silent,” Usyk added.
Usyk went further, inviting Trump to visit Ukraine in secret. “I will let him stay in my house. My security guards will guard him. He will see for a week how Russian planes fly over my house, how people live in fear day and night,” he said.
He suggested Trump stay in heavily attacked residential areas such as Obolon or Troieshchyna in Kyiv to witness firsthand the ongoing Russian strikes on civilian homes.
Usyk hopes that a visit from Trump would pressure Moscow to halt attacks temporarily and draw international attention to Ukraine’s plight.
