London, Dec 05 (V7N) – Former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was remembered with deep respect at an international seminar held at the House of Lords, the upper house of the British Parliament, on Wednesday.

The seminar, titled “Tarique Rahman’s Policies and Politics: Contemporary Bangladesh,” was organized by the UK-based human rights organization Voice for Bangladesh UK. British MPs, Lords, political leaders, journalists, and distinguished personalities from Bangladesh and various other countries attended the event.

Speakers highlighted the upcoming national elections in Bangladesh, the current political landscape, and the political vision and future prospects of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. They also recalled Khaleda Zia’s long political career and contributions with respect.

The seminar was presided over by Lord Hossain, a senior member of the House of Lords, and moderated by Ataullah Farooq, founder of Voice for Bangladesh UK and CEO of ION TV.

Panel speakers included:

  • Abbas Faiz, former Amnesty International South Asia Director

  • Alex Burrows-Curtis, British MP

  • Ryan Williams, international lawyer

Other notable participants were former British MP Simon Dunjak, MP Paul O, British political figure Julian Gallant, politician Mahidur Rahman, and Oxford University student Saimul Mujib Rahman.
