Washington, D.C. Dec 05 (V7N) – The United States has carried out another strike on a vessel in the Caribbean Sea, leaving four people dead, the Pentagon confirmed on Thursday (December 4).
According to a Pentagon statement, the attack was launched on allegations that the vessel was involved in drug trafficking toward the United States. The operation was conducted under the directive of US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Al Jazeera reported.
The US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) stated that the targeted ship was sailing along a well-known drug smuggling route in the Eastern Pacific, an area frequently monitored for narcotics transportation.
US forces have intensified operations in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific since September. More than 80 people have been killed in these actions over the past few months, according to official figures.
The latest incident underscores the escalating use of military force in US counter-narcotics efforts across the region.
