Kyiv, Dec 14 (V7N) — Russian drone and missile attacks have struck energy and industrial facilities across at least six regions of Ukraine, leaving more than one million households without electricity, according to a report by CNN.
The attacks took place overnight on Saturday (December 13), when Russia launched over 450 drones and at least 30 missiles, primarily targeting Ukraine’s power infrastructure and industrial plants. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the assault in a statement posted on Telegram.
Power outages were reported in the Odesa, Chernihiv, Kherson, Dnipro-Petrovsk, Kirovohrad, and Mykolaiv regions, with neighboring areas also experiencing disruptions.
Authorities said that after extensive repair efforts, partial electricity supply has been restored in Mykolaiv and its surrounding areas, while emergency crews continue work to stabilize the broader grid.
Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has been a primary target of Russian attacks since the beginning of the war, but officials say the scale and intensity of strikes have increased in recent weeks as winter temperatures set in. The ongoing power shortages have led to serious disruptions in heating and water supply, worsening humanitarian conditions for civilians.
Ukrainian officials warned that further attacks on critical infrastructure could deepen the crisis as the country faces harsh winter conditions.
