Washington, Jan 07 (V7N)- Citizens of 25 countries, including Bangladesh, will be required to deposit a visa bond of up to $15,000 before entering the United States, according to an announcement published on the US State Department website on Tuesday.
Under the new regulation, Bangladeshi travelers entering the United States under B-1 (business) or B-2 (tourist) visas will be permitted to enter only through three designated airports:
-
Boston Logan International Airport
-
John F. Kennedy International Airport (New York)
-
Washington Dulles International Airport
The State Department warned that entering or exiting the United States through any airport other than these designated ports will constitute a violation of the bond conditions.
According to the policy, applicants deemed eligible for B-1 or B-2 visas from the listed countries will be required to deposit a bond of $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000, depending on the assessment made during the visa interview. The bond amount will be determined by US consular officers on a case-by-case basis.
The State Department stated that the measure is part of efforts to ensure compliance with US immigration laws, particularly regarding visa overstays.
The new policy for Bangladeshi citizens is scheduled to come into effect on January 21.
