Gaza, Jan 31 (V7N) — At least 12 Palestinians, including six children, were killed in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Saturday, a day before the reopening of the Rafah crossing, according to Al Jazeera.
Medical sources reported that seven people, including three children, were killed when Israeli airstrikes targeted a tent for displaced people in the al-Mawasi area, northwest of Khan Yunis.
In addition, emergency services confirmed that five people, including three children, were killed in an Israeli strike on an apartment in the Remal area west of Gaza City. Another apartment in the nearby city of Daraz was hit, leaving eight people injured.
Despite a US-brokered ceasefire that has been in place since October 10, 2025, Israeli forces have killed 524 Palestinians to date.
The airstrikes came just one day before the scheduled reopening of the Rafah crossing, raising concerns about the humanitarian situation in the densely populated territory.
