Dhaka, Mar 08 (V7N) – As the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States enters its ninth day, a senior Iranian official has claimed that several American soldiers have been captured since the fighting began.

Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s National Security Council, made the claim in a post on the social media platform X on Saturday (March 7).

In the post, Larijani alleged that Iranian forces had detained several US soldiers during the conflict and accused the US administration of attempting to cover up the incident.

However, the US military has strongly rejected the claim.

In a statement, Tim Hawkins, a captain in the United States Navy, said the allegation was false.

“These are lies. Iran is spreading confusion,” Hawkins stated.

A spokesperson for the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) also dismissed the claim, describing it as “baseless propaganda.”

The conflict began on February 28, when US and Israeli forces launched a joint attack on Iran, escalating tensions in the region. Since the start of the fighting, at least six US soldiers have reportedly been killed, according to available reports.
