After Iran fired hundreds of missiles and drones towards Israel over the weekend, Israel had threatened to retaliate. The majority of them were thwarted.
 
In response to Iran's attack over the weekend, Israel has started an airstrike, according to a senior US source quoted by ABC News on Thursday night.
 
Hundreds of missiles and drones fired by Iran at Israel over the weekend prompted Israel to threaten retaliation. We intercepted the majority of them.  It took Reuters a while to verify the rumours. A news agency stated that flights were grounded over Tehran, the country's capital, and other towns on Friday. Iran's official TV said that "big explosions" were heard close to the central city of Isfahan. 
 
State TV reported, "News sources are reporting hearing big explosions in Isfahan province," however it did not immediately clarify what caused it.
