In a landmark move, Saudi Arabia has announced that foreigners arriving in the country with any type of visa will now be able to perform Umrah, as reported by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on Thursday. This decision opens the doors for individuals from around the world to undertake the revered pilgrimage without any hindrance.
According to Gulf News, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah took to social media to declare that Umrah can now be easily performed from any location and with any visa type, including personal, family, transit, labor, and e-visas.
In addition to this significant policy change, the Saudi government has introduced a new digital platform called the 'Nusuk App' to streamline the process for pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah at Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Nabawi. Pilgrims are encouraged to utilize this platform for obtaining permits and accessing various services, including accommodation and essential accessories.
Authorities have emphasized the importance of adhering to the scheduled times for ritual ceremonies at the Grand Mosque of Mecca, ensuring a smooth and organized experience for pilgrims.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has initiated the process of allowing local residents and foreign nationals residing in the kingdom to perform Hajj this year. Under the new regulations, no additional quotas are being allocated to other countries for Hajj pilgrims.
In recent months, Saudi Arabia has introduced several measures to facilitate Umrah for foreign Muslims, including extending the Umrah visa period from 30 to 90 days and permitting entry into the country via land, water, and air routes.
Furthermore, preparations for the upcoming Hajj season are underway, with online registration opening in February and the announcement of four packages ranging from 4,099 Saudi Riyals to 13,265 Riyals, taking into account various accommodation options.
As part of the preparations, Saudi authorities have outlined the timing for Umrah pilgrims, requiring them to depart from Saudi Arabia by 29 Zilqad (June 6). Umrah visas will remain valid for 90 days from the date of entry into the kingdom, allowing pilgrims ample time to fulfill their religious obligations.
