US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has accused China of attempting to influence and interfere in the upcoming US elections in November. Blinken made these allegations during an interview with CNN's Kylie Atwood in Beijing on Friday, the last day of his three-day visit to China.

Blinken's visit to China included meetings with top officials, including President Xi Jinping, amidst ongoing tensions in bilateral relations on various issues.

During the interview, Blinken referenced a previous meeting between US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping in San Francisco last November. He stated that during this meeting, President Biden warned China against interfering in the 2024 US presidential election, to which President Xi Jinping allegedly promised non-interference.

However, Blinken asserted that the US has evidence suggesting China's attempts to influence the upcoming elections. He emphasized that such interference is "totally unacceptable" to the United States and reiterated Washington's commitment to closely monitoring any such activities.

"We are watching very carefully any Chinese interference in our elections," Blinken stated firmly, underscoring the gravity of the situation. The US Secretary of State's remarks highlight the growing concerns over foreign interference in the electoral processes of democratic nations.
