The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have recovered the bodies of three Israeli hostages from a Hamas tunnel in Gaza, according to a report by the BBC. The hostages were identified as Shani Louk, Amit Buskila, and Itzhak Gelrenter.

The Israeli army stated that these individuals were believed to have been killed on October 7 last year, coinciding with the day Hamas launched an attack on Israel. Their bodies were subsequently taken to Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the incident as "heartbreaking" and vowed, "We will return all our hostages: alive and dead to their relatives."

The October 7 attack by Hamas resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people in Israel. On the same day, 252 hostages were taken to Gaza by Hamas members. During a seven-day ceasefire last November, 105 hostages were released.
