In a significant diplomatic move, Chinese President Xi Jinping has reiterated China's unwavering support for Palestinian independence and expressed commitment to collaborating with Arab nations to uphold the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people. During a meeting with leaders of Arab countries visiting Beijing, President Xi emphasized China's readiness to act as a mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"The conflict between Israel and Palestine has escalated dramatically. Just as war cannot continue indefinitely, justice cannot be absent forever. Beijing fully supports the sovereignty of Palestine," President Xi stated. He announced that China would provide an additional $69 million in aid to the Palestinians.

President Xi further declared China's support for Palestine's bid for full United Nations membership, stressing the importance of strengthening diplomatic relations with Arab League member states. "China is supporting Palestine to gain full membership in the United Nations," he said, underscoring Beijing's commitment to international diplomacy and justice.

In his address, President Xi highlighted the potential of Sino-Arab relations to serve as a model for global peace and stability. "We aim to work with Arab leaders to resolve the Middle East crisis. Sino-Arab relations can be a model for maintaining world peace and stability," he added.

China's vocal stance on the Gaza issue marks a notable shift, particularly in light of the ongoing concerns over the Uyghur issue, which had strained relations with some Muslim-majority countries. Nevertheless, Beijing has recently intensified efforts to strengthen ties with Middle Eastern nations, even while maintaining diplomatic relations with Israel.

Despite its ties with Tel Aviv, China has criticized Israel for its actions in Gaza and has called for a ceasefire. President Xi's remarks reflect Beijing's strategic positioning and its commitment to playing a more active role in Middle Eastern affairs.

China recognized Palestine as an independent state in 1988, and this recent affirmation of support underscores its long-standing commitment to Palestinian sovereignty and the broader cause of peace in the Middle East.
