The seventh and final phase of India's Lok Sabha elections has begun, with voting starting at 7 am on Saturday, June 1, and continuing until 6 pm. This final round of voting will take place in 57 Lok Sabha constituencies across eight states and Union Territories, involving approximately 10 crore 6 lakh voters.

The multi-phase polling for the Lok Sabha elections commenced on April 19, and so far, voting has been completed for 486 out of 543 parliamentary seats. The constituencies voting in this final phase include:

  • Uttar Pradesh: 13 seats
  • Punjab: 13 seats
  • West Bengal: 9 seats
  • Bihar: 8 seats
  • Odisha: 6 seats
  • Himachal Pradesh: 4 seats
  • Jharkhand: 3 seats
  • Chandigarh: 1 seat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the focal point of the last phase of voting for two significant reasons. First, he is contesting as the BJP candidate from the Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Second, his decision to engage in marathon meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari has drawn widespread attention. Modi began his meditation on Thursday night and will conclude it after the voting on Saturday.

The Election Commission announced the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections on March 16, initiating a prolonged electoral process that has spanned more than two and a half months. As the country heads into the final phase of voting, all eyes are on the outcome, which will shape the political landscape of India for the next five years.
